Abstract

This research aims to emphasize opening the means (Fat al-Dharā’iʿ) to promote goodness, sustainable development, and societal advancement by protecting human values as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into modern societies. It explores the concept of human dignity as a core principle in Islamic Sharia, discussing its characteristics and examining how it can be preserved within the scope of AI applications, guided by the ethical objectives (Maqāid) of Islamic law. Additionally, the research considers the social and cultural impacts of AI use in relation to preserving human dignity. Thus, the study highlights the relationship between promoting sustainable development through ethically responsible and constructive use of AI and recognizing the inherent dignity and honored status of human beings as stewards entrusted by God to care for and develop the earth, ultimately building a civilization that benefits all people.
Through textual analysis, analytical discussions, and inductive reasoning, the research draws several important conclusions. One key finding is the necessity to encourage and positively utilize artificial intelligence in ways that enhance human dignity. However, it also stresses the importance of setting appropriate limits on AI to ensure it does not overpower or cause harm, whether physically or morally, to humans. AI implementations should align with essential human needs, supportive societal functions, and enhancements to quality of life, always considering ethical integrity, cultural identity, security, and overall human wellbeing.
