Poetic Manifestations of Islamic and Arabic Issues in Dr. Fatima Al-Morsi's Diwan (On Its Threshold): A Critical Analytical Study.

Abstract

This research seeks to monitor the responses of Fatima Al-Morsi Hussein Jawhar - Lecturer of Literature and Criticism at Al-Azhar University - to Islamic, Arabic, and national issues. Her responses constitute part of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif's efforts to keep pace with contemporary events, and an extension of poetry's role in serving Islam since the mission of the Prophet ﷺ.
Her collection "On Its Threshold" abounds with treatments of Islamic issues, as she: defended the Prophet ﷺ against verbal and physical abuses, expressed her longing for him ﷺ, his companions, Mecca and Medina, detailed the events of the Prophetic Migration to call for spiritual migration and advocated against religious extremism that harms societal peace. Also, she warned against the Mortal deviations that ruin youth's lives and called for adhering to pillars of the Muslim family, including breastfeeding and fulfilling children's psychological and physical needs.
Among the Arab issues she addressed: defending the Arabic language against fierce attacks and calling for taking pride in and adhering to it.
As for national issues, she covered: Egypt's defense of its land in the October 6th War and how it was watered with its martyrs' blood. In addition, she showed Egypt's earnest efforts for progress and prosperity, including the New Suez Canal reflecting Egypt's determination to move forward despite internal and external challenges.
The research discusses the technical features of her poetry which was characterized by: linguistic clarity and smoothness, quoting from the Quran, Prophetic Hadith, and Islamic/Pharaonic history, repetition, incorporating contemporary vocabulary keeping pace with events. Her verse leaned heavily toward rhetorical non-declaratives. She employed sensory, mental, partial and comprehensive imagery to strengthen meanings. In most of her poems, she relied on Bahr al-Kamil, and used rhetorical embellishments to achieve the inner music of the text. The methodology used in this study: the integrative approach. The study recommends: directing literary and critical studies toward literary arts addressing contemporary issues and Including Dr. Fatima Al-Morsi's poems in curricula due to their: ease, clarity, sublime expressions and suitability for various age groups.
