Abstract

This study examines the approach of the Prophetic Sunnah in utilizing economic resources to achieve productive sufficiency and explores mechanisms that can be applied to address contemporary economic challenges. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach alongside deductive and inductive methods, the study analyzes Prophetic traditions to extract relevant legal and economic principles. It also applies a partial inductive study of primary Hadith sources while incorporating a critical perspective to establish the topic within the framework of the Sunnah.
The first section investigates how the Sunnah capitalizes on human resources and prevents their underutilization. It highlights their significance in the Prophetic tradition, their role in human capital development, the refinement of skills, and the allocation of tasks based on competency. Additionally, it examines how the Prophet ﷺ encouraged labor and productivity, as well as the mechanisms through which the Sunnah optimizes human resources.
The second section focuses on the rational investment of natural resources, discussing the conservation and responsible use of water, land reclamation and agriculture, the protection of livestock, and the management of underground resources such as minerals. It also considers strategies for preserving these assets and preventing their waste or misuse.
The third section addresses financial administration in the Prophetic Sunnah, examining principles of sound economic management, the allocation of wealth in productive and developmental ventures, and the regulation of financial transactions. It explores the encouragement of investment to maintain production stability, the preservation of public funds and state property, and the prohibition against exploiting official positions for personal gain.
The study underscores the need to reactivate the role of endowments in supporting economic development by investing in productive projects that benefit society. It also highlights the necessity of integrating economic and human resources through a comprehensive development framework that ensures their optimal utilization. Furthermore, it advocates for an economic system based on transparency and justice, safeguarded by regulations that prevent monopolistic practices and exploitation while protecting the rights of workers and traders, as demonstrated by the Prophet ﷺ in establishing the Islamic market in Medina. The research also emphasizes the importance of promoting productive enterprises to secure economic sufficiency, achieving financial sustainability through prudent and balanced spending, and imparting vocational skills in alignment with the Prophetic Sunnah to maximize human resource efficiency.
